Reps customs by country
Duty, VAT and what happens to parcels with fakes, country by country, from official government and EU sources.
- United States: Since 29 August 2025 every parcel to the US pays duty, however cheap: the $800 duty-free limit (de minimis) is suspended for all countries, and for China and Hong Kong it ended on 2 May 2025.
- United Kingdom: For goods up to £135 you buy yourself, the seller adds VAT at checkout and there is no customs duty.
- European Union: Since 1 July 2026 there is no €150 duty-free limit in the EU any more.
- Germany: Since 1 July 2026 parcels from outside the EU pay a flat €3 duty per goods category plus import VAT of 19% (7% for some goods), usually handled by the post or courier, who may add a service fee.
- Poland: From 1 July 2026 to 1 July 2028 a duty of €3 per item applies to parcels from outside the EU, and Polish authorities say the consumer does not pay it: the seller, platform or their representative does.
- Canada: By mail, goods worth CAN$20 or less are free of duty and tax from any country.
- Australia: For goods worth A$1,000 or less, the overseas seller collects GST at checkout; above A$1,000, GST, duty and clearance charges are charged at the border.
