Getting started
- Install the extension, then open any product page on Kakobuy.
- Click the pink G icon in your toolbar. The panel opens beside the page.
- If you don’t see the icon, click the puzzle-piece icon in Chrome’s toolbar and pin GRAILS Companion.
Common questions
The panel says “Open a product page on Kakobuy”
The panel reads the product from the page you’re on, so it only fills in on a Kakobuy
product page, the ones with /item/details?url=… in the address. On the
homepage or a search page there’s no single product to look up. Open an item and the panel
fills in.
The seller has no trust score
GRAILS curates a subset of sellers rather than the whole market, so most items on Kakobuy won’t match one. When that happens the panel says “not in GRAILS’ vetted set” instead of inventing a rating.
An unlisted seller is not a warning. It means we haven’t reviewed them, nothing more. Scores also reflect curation: community reputation, tier, catalogue depth and our notes. They are not transaction data or per-item quality testing, because GRAILS holds no per-item quality data.
There are no QC photos for my item
QC photos only exist where another buyer’s quality-check batch has been published for that exact item. Coverage is patchy and thinner on Weidian items than Taobao ones, so “no QC photos found” is a normal result rather than a fault. It isn’t a sign that anything is wrong with the product.
The shipping estimate doesn’t include Kakobuy
Kakobuy doesn’t publish shipping rates that we can query, so the estimate covers MuleBuy, Sugargoo and Superbuy instead. Treat it as a ballpark for a parcel of that weight to your country. The real figure comes from your agent at checkout, once your parcel is weighed and packed.
The weight looks wrong
The weight is taken from the QC batch, so it’s the weight of the item as another buyer received it, not your parcel, which includes packaging and anything else you ship with it. You can type over it.
The dark theme looks broken after a Kakobuy update
The dark theme restyles Kakobuy’s own pages, and Kakobuy occasionally changes how those pages are built. If something looks off, open the extension’s options and switch the dark theme off. The page reverts immediately, with nothing left behind. Then let us know and we’ll fix it.
The assistant says to wait a few seconds
Questions are limited to six a minute so the service stays up for everyone. Wait a moment and ask again.
How the extension is funded
The extension is free. On visits that arrive at Kakobuy with no referral code at all, it applies GRAILS’ own code, and GRAILS earns a commission on those orders at no extra cost to you.
If a creator referred you, their code is never touched. When a referral code is already present, whether in the link you clicked or stored from an earlier visit, the extension leaves it exactly as it is. It only ever fills in a blank.
You can switch this off in the extension’s options at any time, and everything else keeps working. The options page also shows what happened on the last Kakobuy page you opened, so you can always see which code is in play.
Privacy
The extension sends only the product link, the parcel weight and destination country, and any question you type. Nothing else. See the privacy policy for the full detail.
